EU ETS Update

It has been a little over a month since I wrote about the EU ETS.  There have been a number of developments since then.  The list of countries opposing the ETS has grown.  The recent add-ons include China.  In addition even more airlines have announced plans for retaliation such as revoking landing rights and ceasing negotiations for additional routes.  In a recent meeting involving 30 countries outside the EU, it was decided that each country will act individually and act as they see fit.   Consequences may lead to a trade war.

  1. It's interesting to see how much retaliation and controversy this has created and to see how it will play out. I personally am glad that more countries globally are uniting and taking action against the EU on this issue.

  2. I agree with the independence of every country for themselves. The EU set the standard of "Its this way, or no way" & you will pay this with no negotiation. I believe this is good rivalry, EU just got off on a bad start.

  3. EU ETS is in a world of hurt, considering the rest of the world is against there policy. I believe this is a good thing, to set straight the EU ETS. It'll be interesting to see where this goes from here.

  4. EU will loose this battle, all in an attempt to create a less apathetic industry. I feel the EU was wrong in their process of addressing the issue but do understand their concern for the environment. Frankly the big picture is the seemingly small percent of emission the industry contribute to the globe and therefore makes the entire argument give an impression of vacuous.
